Drawing from the intricate frontispiece of a 14th-century Qur'an produced in Damascus, this wall piece reflects the precision and refinement of Mamluk craftsmanship. The Mamluks, originally enslaved soldiers who rose to power through military and administrative ranks, established a powerful dynasty that ruled Egypt and the Levant from the 13th to 16th centuries. Renowned patrons of the arts, their legacy includes some of the finest examples of Islamic architecture, manuscript illumination, and geometric design.

The pattern in this piece features a twelve-pointed star surrounded by interlacing forms, repeated in a 2x2 grid to form a continuous and symmetrical composition. Through this repetition, a secondary motif emerges at the centre: an interlocking arrangement of curved and angular shapes revealed only where the four tiles meet. This hidden floral-like geometry adds depth and quiet complexity, turning repetition into transformation. The result is a layout that feels both expansive and ordered, rooted in historical tradition while remaining visually bold.

Created with digital precision using premium wood filament and finished by hand, each piece is carefully sanded down to highlight the clean, interlocking forms. It is then sealed with a protective finish to preserve its texture and deepen the visual contrast, giving the surface both durability and refinement. Designed for simple wall mounting with a built-in nail bed on the back, the piece has a square profile measuring 160 millimetres on each side with a depth of 15 millimetres.
