This piece is inspired by the refined geometry of the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah in Agra, a 17th-century Mughal landmark often called the “jewel box” for its intricate inlay and delicate ornamentation. Commissioned by Nur Jahan in memory of her father, the tomb marked a turning point in Mughal design with its white marble latticework, floral motifs, and richly detailed surfaces.
Each pattern highlights the structure’s focus on symmetry and surface detail. Interlocking forms are arranged in clean, measured compositions that reflect the decorative style found throughout the tomb’s walls and screens.
Created with digital precision using premium wood filament and finished by hand, each piece is carefully sanded to emphasize crisp lines and subtle depth. Multiple protective finishes are applied to enhance contrast, preserve texture, and ensure durability with a smooth matte finish. Measuring 70 millimetres square and backed with multiple magnets, the set brings a quiet, historical presence to any magnetic surface.
