This piece is inspired by the refined ornamentation of the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah in Agra, a 17th-century monument often seen as a turning point in Mughal architecture. Commissioned by Nur Jahan for her father, the tomb introduced a new aesthetic of lightness and precision that would later influence the design of the Taj Mahal.
The pattern reflects the elegance of Mughal inlay, latticework, and surface design. Interlocking geometric forms are arranged with clarity and restraint, echoing the balance and delicacy that define the monument’s carved marble screens and symmetrical composition.
Created with digital precision using premium wood filament and finished by hand, each piece is carefully sanded to sharpen its geometry and surface detail. Multiple protective finishes are applied to preserve texture, enhance contrast, and create a durable matte finish. Enclosed in a 70 millimetre square and backed with multiple magnets, it offers a quiet architectural accent for any magnetic surface.
