This bookmark is inspired by the intricate brickwork and refined geometry of the Mustansiriya Madrasa in Baghdad, a major centre of learning built in the 13th century under the Abbasid caliphate. Known for its symmetrical layout and detailed ornamentation, the madrasa showcases the precision and balance characteristic of Abbasid design.
Design
The pattern draws from the rhythmic interlacing found in brick façades and carved surfaces of the period. Angular repetition and structured layering echo the architectural clarity and decorative restraint of Baghdad’s historic buildings.
