This wall hook draws inspiration from the geometric ornamentation of Al Qarawiyyin in Fez, Morocco, one of the world’s oldest continually operating centres of learning. Founded in the 9th century by Fatima al-Fihri, a visionary patron of education, the mosque and university complex is known for its carved plaster, detailed woodwork, and intricate zellij tilework made from hand-cut pieces arranged into complex geometric patterns.
The pattern reflects this legacy through interlocking forms and symmetrical repetition. It captures the quiet discipline of spaces built for study and reflection, where geometry was used not only to adorn but to structure and elevate.
Created with digital precision using premium wood filament and finished by hand, each piece is carefully sanded down to sharpen the crisp lines and reveal the depth of its interlocking forms. It is then sealed with a protective finish to preserve its texture and enhance visual contrast, resulting in a durable, matte surface.
Measuring 164 millimetres in diameter, with a depth of 15 millimetres, the hook includes a steel peg for keys, bags, jackets, or other accessories and mounts securely with a dual screw bed on the back. Both functional and sculptural, it brings a timeless architectural presence into the everyday.
