This wall piece draws inspiration from the geometric ornamentation found in the ruins of Shalla, a historic necropolis just outside Rabat, Morocco. Once a bustling Roman settlement and later transformed into a spiritual sanctuary by the Marinid dynasty in the 14th century, Shalla is a place where layers of history, culture, and architecture converge. Crumbling mosaics, ancient tombs, and weathered gates still bear traces of the artistry that once defined the site.

The pattern is a striking example of traditional Islamic geometric design, featuring an eight-pointed star at its centre. From the star radiate a series of interlocking angular shapes, forming a symmetrical layout that balances complexity and clarity. It reflects the mathematical precision and symbolic harmony of Moroccan craftsmanship, bridging historic design with contemporary expression.

Created with digital precision using premium wood filament and finished by hand, each piece is carefully sanded down to highlight the clean, interlocking forms. A protective finish is then applied to preserve the texture and enhance visual contrast, resulting in a durable, matte surface.

The piece is 15 millimetres deep and spans up to 174 millimetres in diameter. A built-in nail bed on the back makes it easy to hang, offering a simple way to bring architectural history into the present.
